3PL Warehousing & Distribution

Flexible Fulfillment That Keeps You Competitive

3PL warehousing is the active management of your inventory inside a third party’s facility — receiving, put-away, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping — not simply renting space to park pallets. Jay Group runs warehousing and distribution from facilities we own and operate, where your goods move through a managed operation rather than sitting in static storage.

Why 3PL Warehousing & Distribution Matters

There is a real difference between storage and warehousing, and confusing the two costs brands money. Storage is basic space: pallets in, pallets out, with no inventory management or handling beyond simple in-and-out. Warehousing is storage plus receiving, put-away, inventory management, picking, packing, kitting, quality control, returns, and shipping — the functions that turn a building into an active distribution center. If your product needs to be counted accurately, rotated by date, and shipped on time, you need warehousing, not a self-storage unit with a loading dock.

What's Included in 3PL Warehousing and Distribution

  • Receiving, put-away, and inventory management with real-time counts
  • Climate-controlled zones for temperature-sensitive product
  • Pick, pack, and ship across DTC, B2B, and subscription orders from one inventory pool
  • Kitting, assembly, and contract packaging
  • Returns and reverse logistics
  • Lot, batch, serial, and expiration tracking with FIFO/LIFO/FEFO rotation
  • Transportation coordination out of both coasts

Crowdfunding Fulfillment at Jay Group

99.9% order accuracy and 99.8% picking and packing efficiency

Jay Group runs at a 99.9% accuracy rate — every order, every time — backed by a 99.8% picking and packing efficiency rate. In warehousing and distribution, that accuracy is what keeps your inventory records matching reality and your shipments matching what the customer ordered, so cycle counts and chargebacks stop eating into margin.

Transparent cubic-foot billing, measured daily

Most storage disputes come from how the bill is calculated. There are two common models. Pallet billing is simple — pallets on hand multiplied by a rate per pallet per month, so 40 pallets at $20 each is $800 a month — but it charges you for a full pallet position even when it’s half full. Cubic-foot billing measures the actual volume your product occupies: take a case’s length by width by height in inches, divide by 1,728 to get cubic feet per case, then multiply by cases on hand and your rate per cubic foot. A 12-by-10-by-8-inch case works out to 0.556 cubic feet; 2,000 of them at $0.55 per cubic foot is $611 a month.

Jay Group defaults to cubic-foot billing because it is the most honest model for most brands, and we measure it from a daily snapshot inside our Manhattan Associates warehouse management system — real occupancy, not a monthly estimate or a rounded-up pallet count.

Facilities we own and operate, positioned close to your customers

We don’t broker your inventory to space we don’t control. Jay Group owns and runs its warehouses, including a 250,000-square-foot Lancaster, Pennsylvania headquarters with climate-controlled zones, a 140,000-square-foot Mountville, Pennsylvania facility, and a 130,000-square-foot Reno, Nevada hub eight minutes from the airport. From Pennsylvania we ship to New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chicago, and Atlanta in one to two days; from Reno we reach Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Portland in a day. That dual-coast footprint is strategically located to reach the majority of the continental U.S. within two days.

Facilities we own & operate across the East, West & Central U.S.

We are not an asset-light platform brokering your inventory to a network we don’t control. We own and run four facilities — Lancaster and Mountville, Pennsylvania in the East; Reno, Nevada in the West; and Houston, Texas in the Central/Gulf region — more than 750,000 square feet reaching over 90% of the U.S. within two days. For a wholesale program that means product positioned close to your retail buyers and their distribution centers, on floors we actually staff.

3PL Warehousing FAQ

What is 3PL warehousing?

3PL warehousing is the storage and active management of your inventory in a third party’s facility — receiving, put-away, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping — as opposed to plain storage, which is space to hold goods with no handling beyond in and out.

How is warehousing different from storage?

Storage is a safe place to hold items long-term with no inventory management. Warehousing adds receiving, put-away, inventory control, picking, packing, kitting, quality control, returns, and shipping, making the facility an active distribution center.

How does Jay Group charge for storage?

Jay Group defaults to cubic-foot billing — the actual volume your product occupies — measured from a daily snapshot in our Manhattan WMS, rather than charging for full pallet positions that may sit half empty.

Where are Jay Group’s warehouses located?

Jay Group owns and operates facilities in Lancaster and Mountville, Pennsylvania and Reno, Nevada, a dual-coast footprint that reaches most of the continental U.S. within two days.
